3 SEO Tips

Do You want to rank number one on Google. Well, I hate to say it but it’s actually really hard these days. Ten years ago it used to be really easy. I’m going to share with you three ways you can get to number one on Google today. When I created my first website I thought it was great and people would love it. But no one visited it because they didn’t know about it! From that point I realized there is something called SEO that I had to do. I paid a few marking firms to help me with search engine optimization. But you know I gave them money and I got no results.
So I realized I had to learn it myself and when I started all those years ago it was as simple as putting the keywords on your website and you can rank. I wish it was that easy these days So here’s what you need to do:

Focus on content.

See Google has this update called “hummingbird” and with hummingbird. What they decided to do is for websites who just have content about everything, won’t do as well as those that focus on one single niche and are super thorough. For example, let’s say you have a website around dating and you write a few write articles that breaks down how to create a profile picture , how to create the ideal description, how to be funny and how to even maybe add video on the different sites like Match.com and then talk about Tinder and about Bumble. You can write articles about other platforms and discuss how you should respond to people and engage with them. If you’re super thorough and your content is so amazing that people are like wow, I read this article. I don’t have any more questions and I know what to do next. That’s how thorough you need to be.

Second Tip

The second tip I have for you is optimize your title and your meta description. Have you ever done a Google search and noticed that every time we do it there’s a link at the top and then there’s one sentence with the link at the top. It is called a title tag and the description below is called a meta description. Now think of it this way if you search for the phrase online dating and you don’t see the word online dating neither in the title or the description – are you going to click on the result? So there you go!

Make sure your title and description are appealing. When writing it think “Why should someone click on your listing?”

Third Tip

The third thing I have for you is to use Google search console. Did you that Google gives you a tool that teaches you how to rank number one on Google. Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous, but it is true and it’s called Google search console. If you’re not already a user of it sign up and don’t miss out. If you are not using it I can’t emphasize that enough. And it’s free! Give it a few days because it takes some time to get the data. You’ll see a screen that shows search analytics. And this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic, but the cool thing about Google search consoles is they also saw you which article or getting impressions and here’s what I mean by impressions, you know when you do a search on Google. You don’t always click through on the result right? If you did you’d be clicking through on ten results. Every time you did a search that would be insane. What Google shows is how many people are seeing your listing and clicking through and how many people don’t click through. So they show you how many impressions you’re getting the clicks and the clickthrough rate. And what you find is in general, you’re lucky if you’re getting around a 5%, sometimes 10% clickthrough rate, but in most cases most pages will be less than 5%. Now the cool part about Google search consoles is they show you all the keywords you’re getting impressions for and all the ones you’re getting clicks for.

Now remember the first tip was about content and you want to article that talks about everything under the sun. Well, you can use Google search console to tie back to the first tip. So kind of number one and three are related. What you want to do is take all the keywords that are getting impressions for and start adding them to your copy. Now don’t just shove them in and have your content keyword rich where you know, someone reads it and it’s a mass of keywords! It needs to flow naturally and be educational.
